The phantom is an MRI accessory used to evaluate the performance of an MRI machine.
Schedule B number 9018.19
The ACR-MRI phantom is an 8” (203.2mm) diameter cylinder, 6.82” (173.40mm) tall with
various fixtures inside including a dinosaur, grid, membrane stack, ramp, resolution block,
and S-N chamber.
The measured volume of one, version 2 phantom is 3627 ml.
The volumes could be +/- 10 ml, maybe more, but likely less.
The salt solution inside the phantom contains <11 grams nickel chloride hexahydrate and
17 grams of sodium chloride in 3.8 liters of water.
Inside the resolution block is hydrogenated vegetable oil. (brand name – Crisco)
This unit may break open if subjected to extremes of temperature.
Keep temperature between 60-80°F (15-27°C).
Quality control testing is directed and overseen by the American College of Radiology.
