INTRODUCTION

Extension / Obese Rings

To simulate obese patients these Extension Rings can be used with our standard Thorax, Cardio, Abdomen and Liver Phantoms.

Our extension (obese) rings are a good choice if you want to test the influences of higher attenuation due to an increased abdominal or chest girth on image quality in CT and other 3D imaging techniques.

The extension rings fits properly on our standard phantoms as there are the QRM-Thorax, QRM-Cardio-Phantom, QRM-Abdomen or the QRM-Liver Phantom.

The rings are basically produced of tissue equivalent material (valid for 120 kVp).

Optionally the rings can be made of fat or water equivalent material (valid for 80 - 140 kVp).

Other materials (specified CT-numbers HU) are available upon request.

Extensionrings are also available with drilled holes for dosimetry purposes.

Specifications

Inner dimensions: 300 x 200 mm
Height: 100 mm (other measures upon request)
Extension Ring M: 350 x 250 mm
Extension Ring L: 400 x 300 mm
Extension Ring XL: 600 x 450 mm
(Inner dimensions: 400 x 300, fits on Ring L)
Base material: tissue equivalent (120 kVp)

Anthropomorphic Pediatric Thorax Phantom

An anthropomorphic thorax phantom in the size of an infant 150 x 100 mm (breast measurement of 414 mm).
QRM phantom QRM phantom

QRM-Pediatric-Thorax comprises artificial lung lopes, a spine insert, and shell of soft tissue equivalent material. The plastics used in this antropomorphic phantom mimic human tissues in the thorax with respect to density and X-ray attenuation characteristics of the human thorax.
The thorax can be delivered as well with an aditional bore hole of 50 mm diameter at the heart position to add different exchangeable inserts.
The QRM-Pediatric-Thorax is also available with drilled holes according to CTDI-specifications for dosimetry purpose.

Specifications

Phantom size: 150 x 100 x 100 mm
Phantom weight (total): 1200 g
Possible diameter of insert: 50 mm
Base material: tissue (resin), app. 35 HU at 120 kV
lung app. -800 HU at 120 kV

Anthropomorphic Pediatric Abdomen Phantom

An anthropomorphic abdomen phantom in the size of an infant 150 x 100 mm (breast measurement of 414 mm).

QRM-Pediatric-Abdomen comprises a liver insert, a splen insert, a spine insert, and shell of soft tissue equivalent material. The plastics used in this antropomorphic phantom mimic human tissues in the abdomen with respect to density and X-ray attenuation characteristics.
The abdomen can be delivered as well with an aditional bore hole of 50 mm diameter at the heart position to add different exchangeable inserts.
The QRM-Pediatric-Abdomen is also available with drilled holes according to CTDI-specifications for dosimetry purpose.

Specifications

Phantom size: 150 x 100 x 100 mm
Phantom weight (total): 1600 g
Possible diameter of insert: 50 mm
Base material: tissue (resin), app. 35 HU at 120 kV
liver, splen app. 55 HU at 120 kV

Cranial CT Phantom

The cranial phantom mimics the human brain anatomy for CT / FD-CT imaging.

Based on a soft tissue equivalent plastic with a constant CT-number for the different kV settings and a surrounding bone structure with an X-ray absorption similar to the human skull, two different section of the human brain are realized.

One section describes the base of the skull with uniform soft tissue and bony structures equivalent to the temporal bones. This section is suitable to demonstrate and evaluate the image quality in the base of the skull, especially affected by beam hardening effects, partial volume effects and artifacts caused by scanner instabilities, e.g. anode wobble.

The second section was designed to test the low contrast capabilities of the imaging system. Within the uniformsoft tissue several low contrast structure simulating typical cortex structures and central low contrast structures of the brain.

Specifications

Dimensions of phantom: 180 mm / 140 mm / 85 mm (height / width / depth)
Thickness of surrounding bone/tissue: Dense bone: 1 mm
Medium dense bone: 8 / 4 mm
Skin (tissue): 4 mm
Soft tissue: nominal 35 HU (80 t 140 kVp, ±5 HU)
Low contrast structures: + 7 HU (±2 HU) above surrounding tissue
Medium dense bone: 400 mg HA / ccm
Dense bone: 1000 mg HA / ccm
